The Islamic Foundation (IF) today urged all television channels not to broadcast the Tarabi prayers live in the holy month of Ramadan.

Recently, it has been observed that some Muslim devotees are offering Tarabi prayers at their respective homes following the prayers, conducted by imams at different mosques, aired by TV channels live, which is misleading the people about Tarabi prayers, an IF press release said.

According to the Islamic Shariah rules, standing in queues together under an imam is mandatory for devotees to offer prayers in a jamaat (congregation).

Islamic scholars also stated that Islam does not allow Muslims to offer Tarabi prayers following the live prayers on TV channels.

Considering this, the release said, the Islamic Foundation requests the television channels not to broadcast the Tarabi prayers and other prayers live.
