India offers Covid vaccines to Bangladesh Army

Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Vikram Doraiswami today said that India has offered Covid vaccines to Bangladesh Armed Forces.

He came up with the remark at DCAB Talk at the National Press Club organised by the Diplomatic Correspondent Association of Bangladesh (DCAB) on Monday.

"We have offered the vaccines. We will be happy to provide the doses to Bangladesh Armed Forces," he said.

Indian High Commissioner further said that India is working hard on the Teesta agreement. But it is not just a matter of the central government, the state government is very much involved with it.

Vikram Doraiswami spoke on various aspects of the relationship between the two nations from connectivity to trade, water sharing, border killing, people to people contact and others.

He said, "Bangladesh is a special friend to India. Friendship with Bangladesh is the cornerstone of India's foreign policy."

The Indian envoy also said that Bangladesh and India are working on finalising a number of projects that will be inaugurated during the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Bangladesh on 26 March.

When the connectivity project using Chattogram Port and Akhaura-Agartala route will be operationalised, he said a Statutory Regulatory Order (SRO) is needed to issue and the cost of goods transport needs to be finalised first. India wants fair price, he added.
