IGP asks his officials to enforce lockdown in the right way

Newly-appointed Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr Benazir Ahmed, BPM (BAR) asked the law enforcers to be more humane towards people while discharging their professional duties. "People should not be treated badly; they cannot be physically abused."
The IGP also asked his officials to enforce lockdown in the right way, keeping people's movements restricted except for emergencies.
Dr Benazir gave the directives to the senior police officers of all police ranges, metropolitan and special units while addressing a video conference on Saturday.
"New crime trends are surfacing at this troubled time. Theft, robbery and cybercrime have sprung up in some places too. Proportionate measures will have to be taken to stop these crimes. Cybercrime, economic crime, fake news and rumours must be stopped.
"The police will have to step up its effort to stop any irregularities in relief and Open Market Sales (OMS) rice distribution. For that, we will have to increase intelligence surveillance.
"We will also have to monitor the markets in coordination with the district and local administrations so that nobody gets the chance to unnecessarily stock goods or raise prices. And the transport of essential commodities should be kept normal.
"We are trying to build a corruption-free, tech-savvy, and smart police force," said Dr Benazir.
