The ministry urged deputy commissioners of the districts to send information of corruption and irregularities with proper evidence to the LGRD ministry

The government will suspend any public representative or government official if they are found involved with irregularities in relief distribution.

"If any public representative or government official is found involved with irregularities in relief distribution, they will be dismissed and a case will be filed against them," says a circular issued by the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives.

"Recently, we learned via social media and newspapers that some government officials are involved with irregularities in relief distribution," the circular further reads.

Mentioning that coronavirus has stopped the source of income for many people, both in city and rural areas, the circular further says that local representatives are directly involved with the distribution of reliefs sent by different government ministries and organisations.

The ministry urged deputy commissioners of the districts to send information of corruption and irregularities with proper evidence to the LGRD ministry.
