Four Khulna pvt hospitals to ready Covid-19 units

Khulna coronavirus prevention committee meeting said the hospitals would join Covid-19 treatment within three days

Four private hospitals in Khulna have been asked to ready and introduce Covid-19 units as Khulna Diabetic Hospital has no bed left for any new coronavirus patient.

After discussion with the private hospital authorities, Covid-19 treatment at the healthcare facilities will be introduced within three days.  

The decision was made at the district Covid-19 infection prevention committee meeting at deputy commissioner's office Sunday.

The hospitals to join coronavirus treatment are Gazi Medical College Hospital, City Medical College Hospital, Ad-Din Akij Medical College Hospital and Islami Bank Medical College Hospital.

The private medical facilities each will open Covid-19 units with 50 beds. Meantime, another 42 beds on the third floor at Khulna Sadar Hospital are being readied for Covid-19 patients.    

Besides, a feasibility study to open coronavirus unit at two Khulna City Corporation (KCC) hospitals is underway.

The meeting also made other important decisions including providing virus test result by text messages. Khulna civil surgeon office will take necessary measures in this regard.   

The meeting suggested managing high-flow nasal cannula at Covid-19 dedicated hospitals and setting up another RT-PCR lab in Khulna immediately.        

The meeting said they would decide later whether the announced three coronavirus red zones in Khulna would be marked as yellow zones after 14 days. Khulna Rotary Club will provide the hospitals with necessary medical equipment for the virus treatment.    

District Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Helal Hossain presided over the meeting while KCC Mayor Talukder Abdul Khalek, Khulna Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sarder Rokibul Islam, Police Superintendent SM Safiullah and Khulna Medical College Hospital Director Munshi Mohammad Reza Sekander, among other, were present.   

Khulna Divisional Commissioner Muhammad Anwar Hossain was connected to the meeting virtually.
