Foreign Minister Dr A K Abdul Momen thanked all members of the Chinese Expert Medical Team for visiting Bangladesh and expressed his gratitude for their invaluable contributions

Foreign Minister Dr A K Abdul Momen praised a Chinese medical team, supporting Bangladesh in fighting Covid-19, via video conference on Wednesday.

In his address to the team, Dr A K Abdul Momen said that he would like to thank all members of the Chinese Expert Medical Team for visiting Bangladesh and expressed his gratitude for their invaluable contributions.

He said that he believes Bangladeshi doctors and medical technicians have immensely benefited from the experience of the team.

He said at the video conference, "The success of China in combating the [novel] coronavirus has made it a role model in stopping further aggravation of the situation. Bangladesh is also taking cues from the Chinese experience to contain the [novel] coronavirus outbreak."

"We are thankful for your support and that of the people of China – standing by the people of Bangladesh during this critical time of [novel] coronavirus pandemic. The Government of China, Ali Baba Foundation, Jack Ma Foundation and many other state-owned Chinese firms have contributed essential items, in substantial numbers, to Bangladesh," he added.

Bangladesh and China have continued to engage in cooperation and collaboration to fight the Covid-19 pandemic. We acknowledge, with due appreciation, the cooperation and assistance by the government and the people of China in this difficult moment, he further added.

A team of Chinese medical professionals, with expertise at handling Covid-19 arrived in Dhaka on June 8 to support Bangladesh's fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.
