First coronavirus death reported in Rajshahi

A man has died of coronavirus at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) today.

The deceased, 80, is the first person who died of Covid-19 in Rajshahi. He hailed from Bagha upazila.

Deputy Director of RMCH Dr Saiful Ferdous said, "He died at coronavirus isolation ward at around 7:40 am."

He also said, "The man was admitted in the hospital with fever and urinary irritation last Sunday. Later, his sample was tested as a Covid-19 suspect. Then he tested positive for coronavirus. He was being treated at corona isolation ward at Infectious Diseases Hospital in RMCH."

Samples of 42 health workers of the hospital including doctors, nurses were tested who came in contact with him. They tested negative for the virus, the doctor added.
