Dr Md Sajjad Hossain, Civil Surgeon of Feni has tested positive with the novel coronavirus.

Confirming the matter, Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA) Feri District President Dr Shahedul Islam Kawsar said that Sajjad Hossain's health condition is stable now. 

With the civil surgeon getting infected with the virus, Dagonbhuiyan upazila Health and Family Welfare official Dr Rubaiyat Bin Karim has been appointed as the acting civil surgeon of the district. 

"I did not receive any official letter regarding this so far. But I was told to take the responsibility," Dr Rubaiyat told The Business Standard. 

Meanwhile, the authorities put areas in Feni municipality, Dagonbhuiya upazila and Chhagalnaiya upazila under lockdown to curb the spread of novel coronavirus.
