Ershad’s ‘Palli Nibas’ under lockdown in Rangpur

Late president general Hussain Muhammad Ershad's residence "Palli Nibas" has been locked down in Rangpur after the bodyguard of Jatiya Party's Joint Secretary General Saad Ershad tested positive for the Covid-19.

Health Department of City Corporation and Tajhat police station of Rangpur Metropolitan Police jointly locked down the residence on Sunday night.

Lawmaker for the Rangpur-3 constituency Saad Ershad, his wife Mahima Saad Ershad and all other staff have been instructed to stay under the home quarantine for the next 14 days.

"During this period, all leaders and activists of the party and other people have been barred from entering the house," said Officer-in-Charge of Tajhat police station Md Roknuzzaman Mia. 

"The health department will collect samples of Saad Ershad and his wife on May 26 for coronavirus testing," said Rangpur district Civil Surgeon Hiramba Kumar.
