Professor Dr Abul Kalam Azad, chief of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), has gone into self-isolation in his home after showing symptoms of Covid-19.

A duty officer of the DGHS Integrated Covid-19 Control Room confirmed the matter to The Business Standard on Tuesday.

The director general provided his sample for testing on May 11. 

Additional Director General Professor Dr Nasima Sultana will take charge of the health directorate in his absence, the DGHS officer said.
