Samples will be collected from 50 patients with Covid-19 symptoms at the Gonoshasthaya Nagar Hospital in Dhaka and Gonoshasthaya Kendra in Savar

The Gonoshasthaya Kendra will begin Covid-19 testing with its G-Rapid Dot Blot kit from tomorrow as the part of the clinical trial for the kit's internal validation.

The samples will be collected from 50 patients with Covid-19 symptoms from 10am to 12pm based on their arrival at the Gonoshasthaya Nagar Hospital in the capital and Gonoshasthaya Kendra in Savar, a recent press release said.

"We will collect saliva or blood or both the samples following the approved rules of the Bangladesh Medical Research Council (BMRC)," read the release, adding, "This sample collection is part of the research, not part of any service or diagnosis."

News earlier published on different media, stating that the Gonoshasthaya Kendra will begin Covid-19 tests with its kit, did not highlight the full information, the press release read.

On April 30, the drug directorate gave approval to determine the effectiveness of the G-Rapid Dot Blot kit. Later, the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University started conducting the performance trial of the kit.
