Covid-19 sample collection halted for 3 hours in Chattogram General Hospital
Confusions arose as there was no fixed place at the hospital to collect the test fee
Sample collection for coronavirus testing at Chattogram General Hospital remained halted for three hours because of confusions regarding depositing test fees.
Many people who came to the hospital to give samples had to undergo much suffering during that period.
The victims complained sample collection was closed from 9 am to 12 noon on Sunday.
Chattogram General Hospital authorities said, "Until now, samples were collected and tested for Covid-19 for free. However, from now on a fixed amount will be charged for conducting the test."
"Confusions arose as there was no fixed place at the hospital to collect the test fee," he added.
Dr Mostofa Jamal, coronavirus treatment coordinator at Chattogram General Hospital said, "From July 1, people have been being charged a fixed amount for giving samples for Covid-19 test. We were collecting the money unofficially until now. However, some complexities surfaced in this regard on Sunday."
"It was not clear where the test fee would be deposited. Later, the hospital authorities decided to set up a booth to collect the money. The booth was set up at 12 noon on Sunday. The sample collection activities restarted thereafter." he added.
So far, 9,888 people have been infected with the coronavirus and 189 people died from it in Chattogram.
