Despite many hurdles, PRAN dairy has continued to collect the same amount of milk what it collects in normal time from its farmers, Chief Extension Officer at PRAN Dairy said

PRAN Dairy Limited has continued to collect milk from its contractual dairy farmers amid the nationwide shutdown to contain the spread of Covid-19 transmission.

The organization is collecting more than 2 lakh litres of milk every day from its farmers, a press release reads.

The dairy farmers are facing difficulties to sell milk dairy as hotels, sweet shops and tea stalls are now closed and many customers stop purchasing milk, it added.

Rakibur Rahman, Chief Extension Officer at PRAN Dairy, said despite many hurdles, PRAN dairy has continued to collect the same amount of milk what it collects in normal time from its farmers.

PRAN has five hubs located at Chatmohar of Pabna, Gurudaspur of Natore, Shahjadpur and Baghabari of Sirajganj and Rangpur.  There are 101 collection and chilling centers under the hubs, he said.

"We are purchasing milk from the farmers at Tk38 to Tk45 per liter depending on the amount of fat in the milk. Farmers are supplying milk at the collection and chilling centers, maintaining social distancing and following health guidelines," he said.

Kamruzzaman Kamal, Marketing Director at PRAN-RFL Group, said, "As many customers cannot buy dairy products due to the ongoing lockdown we have introduced home delivery facilities. We are delivering PRAN pasteurized milk, yogurt, cheese, butter through our salesmen.
