Covid-19 positivity rate drops to 6.69% with 363 new cases

With a declining positivity rate of 6.69%, Bangladesh reported 363 cases of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours ending at 8am on Sunday. 

Today's positivity rate is the lowest in 64 days as the infection trajectory took an upward trend after it was reported at 6.26% on 13 March. However the infection curve dropped below 10% on Saturday with a 6.95% positivity rate. 

Meanwhile, the country reported 25 more deaths from Covid-19, taking the total death count to 12,149. 

During this period, the fatality rate was 1.56%, according to the data provided by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

In the preceding 24 hours, 5,430 samples were tested in 459 labs across the country. 

Among the latest day's victims, 18 were men, and seven were women. Of the victims, 24 died in different hospitals across the country while one at home.

Moreover, 13 of the deceased hailed from the Dhaka Division, 11 from Chattogram, and one from Barishal.

Also, 601 patients were declared free of Covid-19 during the last 24 hours, with a 92.55% recovery rate.

The country's maiden cases were reported on 8 March last year and the first death from the virus was reported on 18 March.

India's tally of cases of the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) has reached 24,684,077 as the country logged 311,170 cases in the last 24 hours, the Union ministry of health and family welfare (MoHFW) dashboard showed on Sunday morning.

The daily fatalities due to Covid-19 were recorded at 4,077 taking the overall related death toll to 270,284 the dashboard showed further, reports Hindustan Times.

Covid-19 has claimed 3,384,845 lives worldwide and infected 163,219,391 so far, according to the data provided by Worldometer.
