Abdul Kader, senior consultant of the Orthopedics Department of Shaheed Sheikh Abu Naser Hospital in Khulna, who is infected with coronavirus, has been taken to Dhaka as his condition has deteriorated.

He was airlifted to Dhaka by an air ambulance of Bangladesh Airforce on Thursday afternoon for advanced treatment.

Abdul Kader was undergoing treatment at the Khulna Diabetic Hospital, that has a dedicated coronavirus unit, said Debashis Bosak, assistant commissioner (media cell) at the district administration office.

Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Helal Hossain took immediate steps to transfer him to Dhaka. A helicopter carrying Dr Abdul Kader left for Dhaka at 6.10pm, said Debashis Bosak.

Dr Kader will be admitted to the Evercare Hospital in the capital, he added.
