Bangladesh logged 327 new confirmed cases of novel coronavirus and seven more deaths in the last 24 hours till 8am Sunday.

The country's death toll from Covid-19 now stands at 8,349 and the death rate is 1.54%, according to the data released by the Directorate General of Health Services.

The latest day's infection rate was 2.33% of the total tests though the country's overall rate till date was 13.76%. 

The number of novel coronavirus cases in the country now stands at 5,43,351.

Also, 475 patients were declared free of Covid-19 during the same period, raising the total number of recoveries to 4,91,367 with an 90.43% recovery rate.

All the victims were male of whom six hailed from Dhaka and one from Chattogram division.

All the victims died in different hospitals across the country.

Meanwhile, 14,036 samples were tested in 214 labs across the country in the past 24 hours. A total of 39,47,673 samples have been tested in the country so far.

The gender breakdown of Covid-19 victims shows that 6,321 of the total deaths were men and 2,028 women.

The country's maiden Covid-19 case was reported on March 8 last year while the first death from coronavirus on March 18.
