Bangladesh reported 38 more deaths from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, taking the total death count to 12,348. 

During this period, the fatality rate was 1.57%, according to the data provided by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Meanwhile, 1,028 more people were infected with Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, which took the case count to 7,87,726. 

In the preceding 24 hours, the positivity rate was recorded at 8.41% after testing 12,230 samples in 482 labs across the country. 

Among the latest day's victims, 25 were men, and 13 were women. All the victims died in different hospitals across the country. 

Moreover, 16 of the deceased hailed from the Dhaka division, seven from Chattogram, four each from Rajshahi, Khulna and Sylhet, two from Ranpur and one from Barishal division.

Also, 759 patients were declared free of Covid-19 during the last 24 hours, with a 92.65% recovery rate.

The Covid-19 victims' gender breakdown shows that 8,928 of the total deceased across the country were men and 3,420 were women.

The country's maiden cases were reported on 8 March last year and the first death from the virus was reported on 18 March.

According to the daily health bulletin by the Indian Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, 2,57,299 people were found to be positive of the viral disease, while 4,194 people lost their lives, pushing the death toll to reach 2,95,525, reports Hindustan Times. 

As of Saturday, 3,458,946 people globally succumbed to the viral disease and so far 166,514,358 people contracted the virus, according to data provided by Worldometer.
