The country's death toll from the virus now stands at 7,819 and the number of coronavirus cases stands at 524,020

The country reported a slight increase in the infection rate to 5.66% on Wednesday from the previous daily record, with 890 more people tested positive for Covid-19. 
 
It was the second consecutive day that the daily infection rate hovered around 5% after more than nine months. The results were derived from 15,727 samples tested in 181 labs across the country in 24 hours until 8:00am yesterday. 
 
During the time, 14 more people died from the novel coronavirus. 
 
Bangladesh is in the 10th month of the Covid-19 outbreak, with 524,910 confirmed cases and 7,833 deaths so far, according to the Directorate General of Health Services.
 
The country's first Covid-19 cases were reported on 8 March last year and the first death was recorded 10 days later. 
 
As many as 841 patients were declared free of Covid-19 in the 24-hour cycle, raising the total number of recoveries to 469,522 with an 89.45% recovery rate.
 
Of the dead, six were men and eight women. Except for one, all died in hospital. 
 
Ten of the deceased hailed from Dhaka, two from Chattogram, and one each from Khulna and Sylhet divisions.
