Now 94 blood samples can be tested at the lab daily

Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) lab has been started today in Bogura to detect coronavirus patients.

Now 94 blood samples can be tested at the lab daily, which was set up at Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College and Hospital, the principal of the college Dr Rezaul Alam Juwel said.

It is possible to launch two shifts here if senior officials want. The lab will start formally from tomorrow (Monday), he added.

Initially, samples from Bogura city and other upazilas' will be tested here. But samples from surrounding districts of Bogura including Nagoan, Joypurhat, Gaibandha, Natore and Sirajganj can be tested here if the authorities want, the principal also said.

Officials of the hospital said, it took four hours to test a sample, so it is possible to start two shifts in the lab. All arrangements have been made to keep the lab active. The necessary training has been given to the concerned authorities.
