To fight coronavirus spread in the country, Bangladesh police will donate the Boishakhi allowance to the relief and welfare fund of the prime minister.

The decision came from a meeting of Bangladesh Police Service Association (BPSA) on Monday, reads a statement.

According to the decision, police members from Bangladesh Civil Service cadres will provide the donation from their Boishakhi allowance (which is also the festival allowance).

The statement - signed by BPSA President and Dhaka Metropolitan Commissioner Md Shafiqul Islam - says that the Additional Inspector Generals will donate Tk20,000, Deputy Inspector Generals will provide 15,000, Superintendents of Police will provide Tk12,000, Additional Superintendents of Police will provide Tk8,000 and Assistant Superintendents of Police will provide Tk5,000.
