Local administration has put Brahmanbaria under lockdown to contain the spread of coronavirus.

The lockdown will be effective from 6pm today.

"We have decided to put Brahmanbaria district under lockdown. From now on, nobody can enter or exit from this district. Roads and all sorts of regional and national transportation will be shut down through highways and waterways until further direction. But emergency services will remain open," deputy commissioner, Hayat-Ud-Daula Khan said in a press conference.

Among others, Brahmanbaria Civil Surgeon Dr Mohammad Ekram Ullah, municipality mayor Nayar Kabir, Brahmanbaria Awami League General Secretary Al Mamun Sarkar were present at the briefing.
