BIRDEM General Hospital authorities have decided to lock down its intensive care unit (ICU) after few patients found positive with the novel coronavirus there.

Hospital's Joint Director Nazimul Islam confirmed the matter to The Business Standard.

A doctor of the ICU team said, "There were four patients in the ICU. One was detected with coronavirus yesterday and results of two other patients also came positive today. So the whole ICU will be locked down. Rest one patient will be sent to another hospital."

However, the doctor could not confirm about when the ICU will be reopened.

Earlier on April 17, Ibrahim Cardiac Hospital & Research Institute closed its Coronary Care Unit (CCU) after a coronavirus patient was admitted there hiding information.

On April 20, Bangladesh Doctors Foundation (BDF), a forum of physicians, has said 170 doctors -- both in public and private hospitals -- have got infected with coronavirus in the country as of Monday.
