In an effort to financially aid the low-income people to face the Covid-19 crisis, all levels of employees of the Bangladesh Bank are going to donate their one-day salary to the prime minister's relief fund soon.

An internal circular about it was issued on Sunday to inform the employees of the central bank, said Md Serajul Islam, executive director and spokesperson for the banking regulator.

He said the fund would be raised after deducting money from the employees' salary for the month of April.

According to the central bank circular, the Bangladesh government has been observing the Covid-19 situation round the clock and taking necessary steps to protect the people against the virus.

Against this backdrop, a decision has been made to donate the one-day salary of the central bank's all levels of employees – both permanent and temporary or the contractual ones – to the prime minister's relief fund, reads the circular.
