Users of this platform can avail up to 40 percent discount at more than 300 hospitals

Amid the outbreak of coronavirus across the country, mobile phone operator Banglalink has started offering free premium services to its subscribers through the "Daktarbhai" platform.

Daktarbhai, built by Healthcare Information System Ltd (HISL), was launched last year to provide users with services such as medical consultation and fixing doctors' appointments in exchange for monthly or annual charges.

Banglalink subscribers will now enjoy easy access to healthcare facilities amid the Covid-19 outbreak, reads a press release issued on Thursday.

The users of this platform can avail up to 40 percent discount at more than 300 hospitals in 61 districts across the country. Users will also get 30 percent discount on a special health screening package at United Hospital.

Banglalink customers can also use Daktarbhai's "Ask a Doctor" service free of charge for general health queries.

Furthermore, they can book appointments with more than 2,500 doctors – including all doctors of United Hospital – for free.

Other free services include tracking one's health record, a health directory, health blogs and medicine dosage reminder.

Banglalink customers can avail all the offers by downloading the Daktarbhai app from Google Play Store and App Store, or by visiting its website.

The offers will be valid till May 31 this year.

"We have decided to provide our customers with these premium services for free considering the immense importance of healthcare services during this critical moment," said Upanga Dutta, chief commercial officer of Banglalink.

"The safety of our customers is always a matter of concern for us, and we are fully prepared to serve them through our digital initiatives," he said, adding they hope such digital initiatives enable customers to get more timely health care benefits.

Raihan Shamsi, co-founder of Daktarbhai, said hospitals and diagnostic centers worldwide are facing a shortage of physicians, including Bangladesh.

"HISL, along with Banglalink, decided to offer the premium services free for all Banglalink users for a period of two months."
