Bangladesh reports 38 more deaths from coronavirus, 3,099 new cases

Bangladesh today confirmed 38 more deaths from the novel coronavirus and 3,099 new cases of infection after testing15,038 samples in the last 24 hours.

With this, the death toll from the deadly virus rose to 1,209 and 90,619 people are infected across the country.

Among Monday's deceased, 32 were men and 6 women. 

Of them, 18 were from Dhaka division, 12 from Chattogram, six from Khulna and one each from Rangpur and Barishal, Additional Director General (Administration) of the Directorate General of Health Services Professor Nasima Sultana revealed the latest figures during the daily online health bulletin today.

"Twenty-five patients died at different hopitals, eleven at their respective homes and two were diagnosed with the infection after death."

According to the latest data by DGHS, 37.55% coronavirus infected patients (both symptomatic and asymptomatic) have recovered and 1.33% died till date. However, the infection rate has been 20.61% today.

Currently, 61,669 people are quarantined across the country – including 2,922 newly-quarantined individuals. A total of 261,689 people have completed their quarantine couse.

Nasima Sultana said, "The authorities placed 536 new individuals suspected of having Covid-19 into isolation, bringing the total to 10,026 after 5,818 left."

"The country is capable of accommodating 13,284 people at different isolation wards and 31,991 people at 629 institutional quarentine facilities," she added.

Moreover, there are 399 ICU facilities and 112 dialysis beds available for the treatment of coronavirus infected patients in the country.

As many as 11,310,820 hotline health services were given by 16,349 trained and 4,217 volunteer doctors via three designated numbers, including 165,188 in last 24-hour till 8am today. 

Till date, a total of 718,921 thermal screenings were conducted at different ports, including 73 at airports, 152 at seaports and 457 at land ports in the last 24 hours. 

Personal protective equipment (PPE) collected by the government has been 2,485,142, of which 2,309,925 were distributed and 175,217 are left in store.

The virus has killed 435,446 people globally and infected 7,988,615 so far.
