Bandarban Civil Surgeon tests Covid-19 positive

Civil Surgeon of Bandarban Dr Angus Pru Marma has been tested positive for the novel coronavirus. 

Dr Pratyush Pal, the head of Bandarban Corona Isolation Centre, confirmed to The Business Standard. 

He said that some 21 more people including the civil surgeon have been tested positive for the virus on Tuesday. The samples were tested in the PCR (Polymeric Chain Re-Action) laboratory at Cox's Bazar Medical College. 

"The civil surgeon has been suffering from fever and cold-related problems for the last few days. Currently, he is in isolation", said Dr Pratyush. 

So far, 439 people have been diagnosed with the deadly virus in the district and two of them died from it while 122 made full recovery.

The district recorded its first Covid-19 case on March 17.
