An automated sanitising chamber has been set up in front of the Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) building in the Tigerpass area of the city to curb the spread of coronavirus.

Chattogram city Mayor AJM Nasir Uddin inaugurated the machine on Tuesday.

When a person stands inside the chamber, the machine sprays disinfectants to sanitise him or her. It takes four minutes to sanitise a person.

The machine was built by six students of Chattogram University of Engineering and Technology (Cuet). It cost them Tk20,000 to build the machine.

The machine runs on electricity and uses sensors to identify if a person is standing inside its operating proximity.
A person can only enter the chamber wearing a personal protective equipment (PPE).

Chattogram city Mayor AJM Nasir Uddin said, "Many countries of the world have this sort of machine in actions to curb the spread of coronavirus."

"People of different walks of life come to the CCC for various reasons; the machine has been set up here to help sanitise our employees," Nasir added.
