Health Minister Zahid Maleque on Thursday said that administrative instructions have been issued across the country to avoid public gatherings, ensure the use of masks and vaccination as Covid infections are on the rise again.
The minister came up with the remark while talking to the media after attending an event at the National Institute of Ophthalmology & Hospital in the capital, reports Somoy News.
He also informed that an additional supply of one crore nine lakh vaccine doses will arrive in Bangladesh before June from the World Health Organization.
He said, "The infection rate had dropped to 2.2%. But even yesterday it went close to 6%. So it's alarming."
"We have written to the district level to limit the number of public gatherings and, if possible, to suspend them," he added.
The minister noted that the authorities have to make sure that countrymen wear masks, maintain social distance and take vaccines.
The minister reiterated that vaccines that are scheduled to receive from India will arrive timely this month.
