ASA hands over 64 tonnes food aid to IGP for poor

ASA, a non-government organisation, has provided 64 tonnes of food assistance to the Bangladesh Police for the poor and low-income families to help them fight the coronavirus.

The organization today handed over 4,000 bags of food products as well as 197 sacks (8,000 killogrammes) of potatoes to Dr Benazir Ahmed, the Inspector general of Police (IGP). 

Each bag contains 10 kilogrammes of rice, two kilogrammes of lentils, one kilogramme of salt and one litre of edible oil.

ASA's Advisor (Operations) Sushil Roy, its EVP (Accounts and Finance) Md Taufiqul Islam Chowdhury, and its Senior Consultant Sheikh Mozahar Uddin were present on the occasion.

ASA has already provided 160 tonnes of food aid to the Covid-19 affected poor and low-income families in Dhaka North and South Cities and six tonnes to the Department of Social Services.

Additionally, the organisation is providing food aid worth Tk12 crore to 1.5 lakh poor families affected by the Covid-19 shutdown across the country.

Besides, it distributed 20 lakh leaflets to create awareness about the coronavirus pandemic.
