Armed forces continue relief operations 

Bangladesh Air Force and Bangladesh Navy personnel are continuing to distribute relief materials, among marginalised people, to tackle the fallout of the novel coronavirus pandemic. 

Relief materials were distributed among low income people living adjacent to the Bangladesh Air Force Base Bashar, in Dhaka's Tejgaon area, Tuesday. Air Force officials distributed the aid maintaining social distancing rules.  

On Tuesday, an Inter-Services Public Relations press release said the Bangladesh Air Force always lends a hand to fight a disaster. Following the government regulations, the Air Force is also conducting relief operations to tackle the Covid-19 situation.

On Tuesday, seven ships of the Bangladesh Navy distributed food items among the fishermen and poor along the coastal belt and Bay of Bengal areas. The Navy personnel brought the poor families food items including: rice, lentil, oil, and potatoes.       

Additionally, they provided the families with soap and face masks plus built awareness among them. Navy ships – BNS Somudra Avijan, BNS Shahjalal, BNS Sagar, BNS Durjoy, BNS Nishan, BNS Karnaphuli, and BNS Kopotakkho – are relentlessly working at: St Martin's Island, Cox's Bazar, Bhasanchar, Harbaria, and Barishal.       

The ships are conducting patrols and monitoring sea-bound boats and trawlers. On top of this, Navy men are reaching the poor in remote coastal areas of Teknaf, Sandwip and Hatia with relief materials.    

Moreover, the Mongla Contingent of the Navy distributed relief items among 300 families at the coastal Dacope upazila. The Bangladesh Navy is spraying disinfectant, distributing food and medicine plus continuing patrols – in coastal and low-lying areas next to the Bay of Bengal – apart from its regular operations in Dhaka, Chattogram and Khulna.
