Another readymade garment (RMG) worker in Gazipur has been infected with the novel coronavirus.

Gazipur Industrial Police Inspector Islam Hossain on Tuesday said on May 5, workers of a garment factory owned by Beximco Group in Kashimpur's Sarabo area in Gazipur city came to join their work after a long time closure to prevent the spread of the virus.

At the factory gates, a thermal scanner detected excessive temperature, one of the symptoms of the novel Coronavirus, in the body of a worker.

Then, the security personnel of the factory immediately sent him to Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Memorial KPJ Specialized Hospital and Nursing College in Tetuibari.

Later, the worker was tested positive for Covid-19. He is now in isolation at his home at Pugli village of Nagarpur upazila in Tangail.

As of now, 16 workers of different garment factories, including women, have been infected with the Covid-19 in the district.

Gazipur Deputy Commissioner SM Tariqul Islam said two of them were in isolation at Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital dedicated for Covid-19 patients and the others were in isolation at home.
