Another member of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has died from the novel coronavirus infection in the capital.

The deceased is Shree Raghunath Roy, 48, an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) in Alpha Company of the south division of Public Order Management (POM) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police, says a police headquarters press release today.

He was undergoing treatment at Central Police Hospital (CPH) in the capital's Rajarbagh and breathed his last early Wednesday at the hospital.

The ASI was transferred to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital after his condition had worsened.

The body has been sent to his home town, under the management of the police. His burial will be held there in the presence of senior officers of the district police.

Bangladesh Police has reported deaths of six officers from the deadly virus so far.
