An eye specialist of Boni Hasan Eye Hospital in Chattogram city died from Covid-19 on Wednesday night.

The deceased Shahidul Anwar, 68, was a freedom fighter and resided at the Jamal khan area in the port city, informed his family members.

"He died at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH) at around 12:00 am on Wednesday night," Aftabul Islam, deputy director of CMCH said.

Shahidul Anwar was admitted to the hospital on May 29 after being infected with coronavirus. 

He was shifted to the ICU four days ago, the deputy director added.

Shahidul's village home was in Fatikchhari upazila of Chattogram.
