All set for nationwide vaccination drive from 7 Feb: DGHS

Some 11,000 people got registered for vaccine till 10 am on Saturday

All arrangements have been made for the nationwide vaccination programme scheduled to kick off on 7 February, says Abul Bashar Mohammed Khurshid Alam, director general of the health directorate.

A total of 613 vaccination centers, including 49 of Dhaka, have been set up across the country to execute the mass-vaccination plan.  

The authorities had earlier urged people to complete online registration for vaccine. There will also be an opportunity for getting registered at the vaccination centers and get the jab immediately.

"If someone fails to register, they can compete the registration process at the vaccination center and take the vaccine," said the DG of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Meanwhile, the additional director general of the DGHS, Meerjady Sabrina Flora disclosed that some 11,000 people got registered for vaccine till 10 am on Saturday.

"We hope that this number will go up after the weekend," she said.

She also mentioned that the second shipment of the vaccines are arriving in February.

As of now, the vaccine has reached 36 districts. Some 6990 teams will work across the country to ensure proper distribution of the vaccine, she added.
