Awami League Joint General Secretary and member of the parliament for Kushtia-3 constituency Mahbubul Alam Hanif has been diagnosed with Covid-19.

He confirmed the news after a sample test on Wednesday and is now receiving treatment at home, reports Prothom Alo.

His personal assistant Tariqul Islam said Hanif felt sick after the National Assembly session on Monday.

The Awami League leader submitted samples on Wednesday for Covid-19 test as he felt feverish. The result came out in the evening, confirming that he had contracted coronavirus.

So far, 49 MPs have been infected with coronavirus and two of them have died.

One of the deceased is Awami League presidium member and MP from Sirajganj-1 constituency Mohammed Nasim and the other is Naogaon-6 MP Israfil Alam.
