Nine upazilas have been declared as red zones, three upazilas as yellow zones and two upazilas as green zones to prevent coronavirus infection

After placing 10 areas of the port city in red zones, the Civil Surgeon's Office of Chattogram has declared nine upazilas of the district as red zones.

The upazilas are Anwara, Banshkhali, Boalkhali, Chandnaish, Patia, Rangunia, Raozan, Sitakunda and Hathazari.

On the other hand, 151 new Covid-19 patients have been identified in the district in the last 24 hours. With this, the total number of Covid-19 cases in Chattogram stands at 5,235.

Chattogram Civil Surgeon Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi said, "Nine upazilas have been declared as red zones, three upazilas as yellow zones and two upazilas as green zones to prevent coronavirus infection. Besides, the virus has been identified in 151 people in the last 24 hours in Chattogram. Of them, 89 are residents of the city and 62 are residents of different upazilas. 703 samples have been tested."

The results, released on Monday, show that 235 samples were tested at the Bangladesh Institute of Tropical and Infectious Diseases (BITID) lab in Fauzdarhat. Among them, 51 people were infected with virus.

At Chattogram Medical College lab, 48 out of 176 samples came out positive. Out of 35 samples tested at Chattogram University lab, 10 were identified as Covid-19 positive.

Of 153 samples, which were tested in the lab of Chattogram Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, 35 samples came Covid-19 positive.

A man from Chattogram was tested positive in Cox's Bazar Medical College Lab.

At the lab of the private Imperial Hospital, six people from Chattogram have been identified as coronavirus positive.
