A total of 107 people have died at RMCH in just 14 days, from 24 May to 6 June. Of them, 62 had contracted Covid-19

Six people, including two Covid-19 patients, have died in the corona unit of the Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) on Saturday.

Among the deceased, four others died with Covid symptoms.

RMCH Director Brigadier General Shamim Yazdani confirmed the matter and said, "These people have died in past 24 hours while undergoing treatment at the hospital's intensive care unit (ICU) and Covid-19 unit."

"Three of the six latest victims hailed from Chapainawabganj and one each were from Rajshahi, Natore, and Chuadanga," he added.

A total of 107 people have died at RMCH in just 14 days, from 24 May to 6 June. Of them, 62 had contracted Covid-19.

With the admission of 30 more patients yesterday, the number of patients in the hospital has increased to 235 which is more than the hospital's management capacity. As a result, RMCH authorities are struggling to provide quality healthcare.

At present, the coronavirus infection rate in Rajshahi stands at 51%.

Meanwhile, the nighttime lockdown has been effective in the district, every day from 7 pm to 6 am, to curb the spread of the notorious virus.
