44 judges, 167 staff of lower courts test positive for Covid-19

Forty-four judges and 167 staff of lower courts across the country have tested positive for the novel coronavirus, according to official data.

This was disclosed in a press release sent by the public relations officer of the Ministry of Law Mohammad Rezaul Karim today.

According to the Covid-19 monitoring desk of the Ministry of Law, till Monday night, 211 staff of lower courts have been infected with Covid-19.

Magura District and Sessions Judge Kamrul Hasan is being treated at hospital and the rest are in home quarantine.

Among the infected staff, two employees died and 20 have recovered so far.

Judge Ferdous Ahmed of Lalmonirhat Women and Child Abuse Suppression Tribunal died from coronavirus recently.

Law Minister Anisul Haque is monitoring the report of Covid-19 monitoring desk run by the law and justice department on a daily basis, the statement said.
