Thirty-four Rohingya camps in Cox's Bazar's Ukhiya and Teknaf were locked down Wednesday afternoon to contain the spread of novel coronavirus.

Police and army personnel are working in the district to ensure that everyone follows the lockdown protocols.

Cox's Bazar's Refugee Relief and Repatriation Commissioner Md Mahbub Alam Talukder told The Business Standard, "Movements in the Rohingya camps were already controlled to some extent as a preventive measure. But we have now instructed the authorities concerned to maintain lockdown in the camps."

He also said that necessary activities in the camps will continue as before.
