Bangladesh confirmed 32 more deaths from the novel coronavirus in the last 24 hours till Monday 8:00am.

The country's death toll from the virus now stands at 5,193, read a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

In the last 24 hours, 1,407 people tested positive for Covid-19 and the number of novel coronavirus cases in the country now stands at 360,555.

Among the 32 deceased, 22 were men and 10 were women. Moreover, 25 of them hailed from Dhaka, three each from Chattogram and Rajshahi, and one from Mymensingh division.

Thirty of them died in different hospitals and two at their respective residences.

In the last 24 hours, 11,922 samples were tested in 106 labs across the country. With this, 19,21,382 samples have been tested in the country so far.

The latest day's infection rate was 11.80% of the total tests, though the overall rate in the country till date was 18.77%. The death rate stands at 1.44%.

In the past 24 hours, 1,582 patients were declared free of Covid-19, raising the total number of recoveries to 272,073 with a 75.46% recovery rate.

The gender breakdown of Covid-19 victims shows that 4,018 of the total deceased were men, and 1,175 were women.

The country's maiden cases were reported on March 8 this year and the first death from the virus was reported on March 18.
