Bangladesh has registered 31 more deaths from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours till 8am on Tuesday. 

With the latest development, the total number of deaths reached 27,470 in the country.

With 1,310 more people testing positive in the same period, the number of total infections rose to 1,553,873. 

The country's daily positivity rate was recorded at 4.49%, less than 5% for eight days in a row. The death rate remained static at 1.77% for a week.

The Covid situation in the country may be considered under control if the rate is maintained for another six days, health experts say. 

Bangladesh reported 25 casualties and 1,212 infections on Monday. 

The health officials tested 29,186 samples across the country in the preceding 24 hours. 

Among the deaths reported today, 13 died in Dhaka division, five each in Chattogram and Khulna, two each died in Rajshahi, Barishal, Rangpur and Mymensingh divisions. 

Also, 1,195 patients were declared free of Covid-19 during the last 24 hours, with a 97.43% recovery rate.

The Covid-19 victims' gender breakdown shows that 17,635 of the total deceased across the country were men and 9,835 were women.

The country's maiden cases were reported on 8 March last year and the first death from the virus was reported on 18 March.
