A number of 932 people tested positive for Covid-19 in the last 24 hours

The rate of daily positive coronavirus cases dropped Monday to 7.39%, the lowest in more than eight months.

Previously, the lowest daily infection rate was on April 11, when 6.08% (954) people tested positive for Covid-19.

In the last 24 hours till Monday 8 am 932 people tested positive for Covid-19, taking the total cases to 5,10,080, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Bangladesh logged 27 more deaths from the novel coronavirus in the last 24 hours, increasing the number of fatalities from the virus in the country to 7,479. The death rate stands at 1.47%.

At least 1,357 patients recovered from Covid-19 during the same period, raising the total number of recoveries to 453,318 with an 88.87% recovery rate.

Among the latest day's victims, 23 were men and four were women. All the victims died in different hospitals across the country.

Moreover, 18 of them hailed from Dhaka, seven from Chattogram, one each from Khulna and Rangpur divisions.

Meanwhile, 12,617 samples were tested in 167 labs across the country in the past 24 hours. A total of 31,84,527 samples have been tested in the country so far.

The gender breakdown of Covid-19 victims shows that 5,698 of the total deaths were of men and 1,781 were of women.

The country's first Covid-19 case was reported on 8 March this year and the first death from the virus was reported on 18 March.
