Factories that are producing corona-preventive equipment and that have international buying orders need not to be shut down.

Aktarul Islam, public relations officer of the Labour and Employment Ministry, on Friday said the government has not issued any instruction about the shutdown of the factories that are producing personal protective equipment (PPE), masks, gloves, hand wash, hand sanitiser and medicines and that have still orders from international buyers.

"Owners can keep their factories operational complying with the health instructions issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) and the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR)," he said.

The Department of Inspection for Factories and Establishments has already issued a letter in this regard to factory owners and workers' unions, Aktarul added.
