On March 20, Shah Alam hosted the wedding of his daughter, creating a mass gathering at his state-provided residential quarters

Brahmanbaria Civil Surgeon Dr Md Shah Alam has been made officer on special duty (OSD) by the Directorate of Medical Services (DGHS) after he had disregarded government orders and created a mass gathering at his daughter's wedding.

Dr Mohammad Ekram Ullah, assistant director (industrial health) at the DGHS, has been made the new civil surgeon of Brahmanbaria, according to a notification issued on Sunday.

Earlier on March 20, Shah Alam hosted the wedding of his daughter, creating a mass gathering at his state-provided residential quarters.

More than 300 guests were invited and present at the wedding ceremony.

This act of violating government directives to avoid mass gathering has sparked waves of criticism among people as they had not expected such actions from a government official in charge of public safety.

But Shah Alam denied that there was a mass gathering and claimed that the wedding was done in a homely environment with few family members.
