UCB gets award from International Finance Corporation
The bank has received the 2019 Best Partner for Women in Trade in South Asia award
The United Commercial Bank Ltd (UCB) has been awarded as the "2019 Best Partner for Women in Trade in South Asia" by the International Finance Corporation, a member of the World Bank Group.
The award was handed over at the 9th Annual Trade Awards hosted by the International Finance Corporation. It recognizes UCB's leadership in providing trade finance without discrimination in emerging markets as a partner of International Finance Corporation.
The sister concern of World Bank awards its partners for helping it support global trade transactions. Through its Global Trade Finance Program, the organisation supported 2,036 transactions worth $4.5 billion globally in the fiscal year that ended on June 30, 2019.
The 9th Annual Trade Awards were handed over for supporting the international financial institution to this end.
With a commitment to support economic and social development in Bangladesh, UCB started its journey in mid-1983 and has since been able to establish itself as one of the largest first generation banks in the country, according to bank sources. With a network of 189 branches the bank has made a distinct mark in the realm of private sector banking in the country. It has been issuing UCB Cards since 2006 and has around 40,000 card holders till now.
