Samsung Bangladesh celebrates first anniversary

Samsung delivered more than 1.5 million 4G smartphones for the local market during the last one year

Samsung, the first global mobile brand to set up an assembly factory in Bangladesh, is celebrating the one year of its operations in Bangladesh on Saturday. 

Along with its local partner Fair Electronics Ltd, Samsung Bangladesh made the announcement during a press conference at the Pan Pacific Sonargaon in Dhaka. 

Part of one of the largest conglomerates in Bangladesh, Fair Electronics Ltd has been assembling a range of Samsung smartphones at a hi-tech factory in Narsingdi for the local market since June 2018. 

Samsung has delivered more than 1.5 million 4G smartphones for the local market during the last one year. 

The current product portfolio of assembled phones includes 4G smartphones with the price range between Tk7,500 to Tk40,000, including the highly sought-after Galaxy M Series & Galaxy A Series phones. 

"We are highly optimistic about our successful collaboration with Samsung Bangladesh. It is working as a major catalyst for technology transfer, creating jobs and eventually taking Bangladesh forward with economic empowerment," said Ruhul Alam Al Mahbub, chairman of Fair Electronics Ltd.

"Samsung Bangladesh would like to take this moment to thank all the customers, the Bangladesh government and local authorities, the media, employees and stakeholders for their love and support during this very challenging yet rewarding journey," said Seungwon Youn, country manager at Samsung Bangladesh. 

Currently, over 1,000 skilled employees are employed by Samsung Bangladesh and 25 percent of them are females, according to a presentation during the event. 

Senior Director HD Lee, General Manager Bomin Kim, Head of Marketing Ashik Hasan, Head of Product Team Fazlul Musawwir Choudhury and Assistant Manager of Marketing Communications Priam Hasnat from Samsung Mobile Bangladesh were present at the event. 

From Fair Group - Chief Marketing Officer Mesbah Uddin, Head of Marketing JM Taslim Kabir, and Deputy Manager of Marketing Rajesh Sharma were also present at the event.
