The workers of Golden Garments took to the streets for over forty-five minutes on rumours that the factory would shut down without paying the wages

Several hundred workers of a readymade garment factory blocked the road in front of Shyamoli Square in the capital demanding payment of their unpaid wages.

The workers of Golden Garments took to the streets for over forty-five minutes on rumours that the factory would shut down without paying the wages, said Roushanul Hoque Saikat, assistant commissioner of Mohammadpur Zone.

"Protestors withdrew the strike around 10:00am after the factory owner went to the spot and gave assurances to them of paying the dues" he added.

Talking to the factory workers, police said that the owners allegedly minimised the overtime pay-scale a few months ago, which triggered the rumour of closing the factory.
