Registrations in game development free course begins

The registration process to enroll in a 200-hour free course on game development has recently started. The Information and Communication Technology Division has initiated the "Mobile Game and Application Skills Development Project" to create skilled manpower for the growing billion dollars gaming industry in the world.

A total of 100 batches in eight divisions of the country will get the free game development training. Students of the training will have the opportunity to learn concept art, 3D modeling, animation production pipeline, and game development pipeline. Undergraduate, Diploma, Art, Multimedia or 2nd-year students in Computer Science or similar subjects can apply for the training.

Interested students are asked to apply by visiting the website www.gameapptraining.com by 25 May 2021. The concerned departments of the government are hoping to start the training from next June.

In a statement, the project director of the programme Md Anowarul Islam said "There is no alternatives of skilled manpower in the information technology to build a digital Bangladesh. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is constantly taking various training programmes and initiatives to turn the country's young generation into skilled manpower. Under this project, we hope that we will be able to create skilled manpower for the game industry by providing free training and the government will continue to work with the home-grown and foreign organisations for their employment."

Bangladesh's leading game development studio ShadowWhite Animators Limited and the leading software and training provider MARS Solutions Limited are jointly working to execute the project in Dhaka, Mymensingh, Sylhet, and Chittagong divisions as partners of the government.

Md Faisal Ahmed, CEO of ShadoWhite Animators Ltd, in an interview, said "The gaming industry has a billion-dollar market. An article published in the Newzoo, the world's most trusted and quoted source for gaming market insights and analytics, last November stated that the value of the global video gaming market in 2020 was 174.9 billion and this number is increasing at a 19.7% rate per year. To hold a strong position in the advancing game industry, Bangladesh needs to train its youth community."

He added, "Bangladesh has already established a strong mark in the world's software industry. If we can skill ourselves efficiently, we will also be able to get a strong position in the gaming industry too. This free game development course titled "Skill Development in Mobile Games and Applications" under the government's Information and Communication Technology Department will play a vital role in skill development."
