Chattogram residents prefer smaller homes with 3 bedrooms

The average price for houses people here wish to pay in between Tk42 lakh and Tk82 lakh

People of Chattogram city have a high demand for smaller homes with three-bedrooms.

This is according to a trend analysis of the current demand for real estate in the port city conducted by Bproperty, the only property solutions provider in Bangladesh.

According to the analysis, 42.84 percent of Chattogram residents prefer smaller homes between 1000 and 1500 square feet with total requests. 38.75 percent of people seek less than 1000 square feet apartments while 1500 to 2000 square feet flats rank third with 15.34 percent of searches.

The research data was collected via the number of users, listings added and queries made at bproperty.com, both online and offline, over the past six months, starting from January 2020, reads a press release.

In terms of rooms, 45.80 percent of people have a high demand for three-bedroom homes. In terms of area, Bayazid Bostami is the most in-demand area to live in with 13.32 percent of searches while Khulshi ranks second with 11.97 percent of searches and Double Mooring comes third with 6.37 percent of searches, it added.

Bproperty's analysis also revealed that the average price for houses that Chattogram residents wish to pay is between Tk42 lakh and Tk82 lakh.  Of them, 22.01 percent had a budget between Tk62 lakh and TK72 lakh while 19.38 percent was between TK42 lakh and Tk52 lakh. And 15.77 percent wish to buy in the range of Tk72 lakh and Tk82 lakh. 

North Kattali, Panchlaish and Jamal Khan are seeing a growing demand as areas for property purchases, it added.

It also found that the average rent people are willing to pay is between Tk10,000 to 20,000. Of them, 30.26 percent of participants are willing to pay in between Tk10,000 to Tk15,000 while 21.81 percent between Tk15,000 to Tk20,000 and 19.97 percent for renting less than Tk 10,000.

Bproperty CEO Mark Nosworthy said, "We wanted to put more focus on the Chattogram market. On average, we receive over a thousand verified property requests a month. This trend analysis gives us a more in-depth idea regarding the demand for properties in Chattogram. With this, we will be able to serve our customers even better from now onwards."
