Sanofi Bangladesh Limited Workers-Employees Association gets new committee

Sanofi Bangladesh Limited Workers-Employees Association has got its new committee with Md Nuruzzaman Raju as president and Sanjib Kumar Chakraborty as general secretary on Monday.

The organization was sanctioned under the Department of Labour on 3 February last year, to assert the rights of the workers and employees of the multinational pharmaceutical company.

Recently, it has formed a nine-member executive committee that received formal approval from the Ministry of Labour and Employment on Monday.

In October, 2019, the company announced to hand over its shares in Bangladesh to a third company.

Sanofi's country chairman and managing director made an announcement on 14 October of 2019 that 55% of their total shares would be transferred to a third company by March 2021.

Protesting against decision, workers and employees of the company placed some demands, but were yet to receive any response from the authority.

The newly elected leaders of the organization said in a statement that stricter action will be announced in the future if the demands of the employees and workers are not met.
